Northwest Film Forum presents screenwriter Stewart Stern
The Seattle non-profit film center welcomes the Academy Award-winning screenwriter for a special screening of "Rebel Without a Cause" on January 15, and an afternoon behind-the-scenes discussion of the film on January 16
Seattle, WA — Northwest Film Forum is proud to welcome celebrated screenwriter Stewart Stern for a special presentation of Rebel Without a Cause that includes an intimate workshop discussion about the creation of the classic film the following day. In honor of the 55th anniversary of Rebel, Stern will introduce the movie before a screening on January 15 at 8pm. On January 16 from 12-3pm, Stern will view the film again in a more educational setting, stopping the movie to discuss specific scenes with those in the audience.
Stewart Stern is an Academy Award-winning screenwriter whose credits include Rebel Without a Cause, Rachel, Rachel, Sybil, The Ugly American and The Outsider. Born into Hollywood royalty -- his uncle, Adolph Zuker, founded Paramount Studios -- he began his career in low-budget movies and television before writing Rebel in 1955.
Stern has taught screenwriting for over 20 years at the University of Washington, at USC and at the AFI in Los Angeles. He is also a creative advisor for the Sundance Institute's Screenwriter's Lab, where he teaches a regular summer workshop in The Personal Connection.
In 2004, Stern became a founding partner of TheFilmSchool, a Seattle-based center for screenwriting and film directing.
