Opening Night: Local Sightings Film Festival!
Opening Party DJ'd by Sharlese Metcalf!

This year the opening night of Local Sightings features a jam-packed preview of what’s to come in the ten day festival, presented by the filmmakers, speakers, and teachers who make the movie magic happen!

We raise the festival curtain by introducing the filmmakers behind this year's lineup. Director Vera Brunner-Sung and producer Brooke Swaney, fresh off the epic drive from Missoula, give us a window into their film Bella Vista, which will have its U.S. premiere as our opening film on September 26.

Speakers from the Seattle Film Summit, including organizer Ben Andrews (Evil Slave LLC), Stefanie Malone (NFFTY, "DIY Distribution"), and Scott Macklin (UW, "Multi-platform Storytelling") preview the themes and topics in this year's expanded Summit.

Filmmaking instructors share a taste of what their upcoming classes have in store: Dayna Hanson digs into Dance Film in Depth and Caryn Cline unearths the hand-made experimental film method known as botanicollage.

Plus, a special word from juror/filmmaker/former Ave rat Maximón Monihan, beamed in from Brooklyn!

And there's more! Filmmakers, fun, and festivities—get the low down, then get down at opening night of Local Sightings.Special ticket pricing: $12 ($9 Seniors/Students, $8 Members).
