The French Project: The New New Wave
Sep 16 - Sep 18, 2010
Seattle’s neo-French all-star music collective presents a new show that manages to balance the louche worldview of Serge Gainsbourg, the voiceover musings of Jean-Luc Godard and the ambition of a band of people who can barely speak French or hang on to a day job. The French Project plays music that ranges from Saint-Saëns and Debussy to Francoise Hardy and ZZ Top, and on unexpected instruments. Featuring short films by Tania Kupczak, Karn Junkinsmith, Shane Wahlund & Michael Anderson and more.
The French Project is: Sara Edwards, Basil Harris, Erin Jorgensen and Charles Smith; with appearances by Kirk Anderson ("Awesome") and Sari Breznau (Circus Contraption) & "special secret" musical guests
$12/Film Forum members, $15/general
"The Stranger Suggests: I've said it before and I'll say it again—Erin Jorgensen is Seattle's sweetest songbird...Her band the French Project is as witty, pretty, and arch as you could want." —The Stranger
"Sublimely silly, and sometimes simply sublime, "The French Project: The New New Wave" is an evening of chansons with a difference." —Seattle Times
