* FREE w/ RSVP! *
On Wednesday, September 25th, Northwest Film Forum will host the next installment of the Office of Film & Music’s monthly Mixer, where creatives and filmmakers can connect and mingle.
In addition to time for networking, this month’s event includes an overview of NWFF’s Local Sightings Film Festival, and local film industry findings compiled by The Ostara Group — the result of a number of listening sessions with local film stakeholders, led by the Office of Film + Music, Northwest Film Forum, and Washington Filmworks. Chris Swenson, Film + Special Events Manager at Seattle’s Office of Film & Music (OFM), and Bobby Lee, Director of the Office of Economic Development (OED), will present a changing model for numerous Seattle city offices, including OFM, OED, and ARTS, as they reenvision a scenario where film is a cornerstone of the City’s creative economy strategy. Lee will draw from his creative economy work in Portland, then give a medium-to-high level walk through of how this new paradigm may work in our city.
Presented by Seattle’s Northwest Film Forum, the 22nd Annual Local Sightings Film Festival (September 20-29, 2019) showcases the growing complexity of creative communities in the Pacific Northwest. Its 2019 edition features a competitive selection of curated shorts and feature film programs, inviting regional artists to experiment, break, and remake popular conceptions around filmmaking and film exhibition.
Programmed closely with community partners as curators, the festival uplifts new talent, provides educational opportunities for youth and adults, supports the regional film industry, and promotes diverse media as a critical tool for public engagement.
