About

Cadence is teaming up with Winter Poetry Festival in Portland, OR to present a curated selection of video poems by featured artists, along with a generative workshop to create a collaborative video poem!

Winter Poetry Festival centers poetry across forms and mediums in a free festival of performances, interactive stations, screenings, poets’ market, and workshops. Our mission is to be:

  • A gathering of poetry enthusiasts and poets as artists in community with each other
  • A place to further craft, to be mutually inspired while connecting, and to celebrate all forms and iterations of the art we love

*Presented by PDX Poetry Fest co-founders Cosper Onstott and Pamela K. Santos, with support from Regional Arts & Culture Council and Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) Low-Residency MFA in Creative Writing, and community partner Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC)*

We believe poetry is accessible, exciting, and relevant. With a theme around nests and nurturing, we intentionally curated our program to include:

  • Main stage performances with panel discussions, craft talks, video poem screenings, and karaoke
  • Poets’ market for books, broadsides, artworks featuring wordplay, and ephemera
  • Sensory-sensitive reading and decompression room
  • Interactive stations for drop-in poetic experiments
  • Workshops for generating new writing, reconsidering poetry forms, and learning how to live and work as a poet
  • Exhibitor tables from partners supporting our mission of celebrating art in community
