While watching endless reruns of Hollywood Squares and Supermarket Sweep during a wet Seattle winter, Claire Buss and Kat O’Hara came up with the idea to make a technicolor game show set in the living room of their house. What began as an eccentric DIY art project has blossomed into a fully functional, multi-camera television show hosted at Northwest Film Forum.
The Future is 0 is a satirical, live game show, filmed in front of a studio audience. During the show, three Seattle-area artists compete in bizarre games like “Get the TV to Work” and “High-Rise Condo or New Age Band?”. Come to an episode of The Future Is 0, and you might see contestants launch multicolored pancakes over audience heads into vibrant oversized mouths for points, or crowd into a cash swirl booth built to the dimensions of a Seattle micro-apartment to collect “rent” in a minute’s time. Hosted by outrageous celebrity hotshot persona Clay Buff, The Future is 0 weaves together biting social commentary and imaginative visuals for an experience you won’t soon forget.
The May 19th and 20th shows are two separate shows with different contestants and different challenges each night.
