About

Captions and subtitles can expand your film’s audience to the deaf community, non-English speakers, and make it easier to find online all at the same time. In this workshop, you’ll not only learn how to easily and quickly add captions to your projects, you’ll also come to understand why doing so is so important in today’s age of accessibility. From design to timing, from sound effects to placement, you’ll leave this workshop knowing everything you need to know to start adding captions and subtitles to your work immediately, whether you do it yourself or hire someone else. Stick around after the class for an hour of instructor support while you caption your films in the NWFF edit lab.

6:30–8:30 Lecture
8:30–9:30 Hands-on practice with instructor support. Try using free SRT software to create captions or subtitles in the NWFF edit lab.

Students will also receive 10 hours of access to the NWFF edit lab ($50 value!) to continue working on a caption or editing project.
