This October, we celebrate two of our favorite girls in horror with Carrie and We’re All Going To The World’s Fair!

Growing up always feels like one series of horrors after another, but it can be even harder when you’re forced to unleash psychic terrors on your bullies or if you lose your grip on reality because of an internet challenge.

Despite being released nearly 50 years apart, these two films each explore the suburban milieu and the isolation that develops for many caught in its grips and seeking something more in their lives. Whether you’re caught in the grips of high school bullies or enraptured by the attention of anonymous strangers on the internet, the ways in which Carrie and Casey, our respective protagonists, beg the question of how one attempts to reclaim their lives from the monotony of American life.
