Northwest Film Forum receives award from King County Doors Open and 4Culture

March 8, 2025

SEATTLE, WA (Dec. 23, 2024) — Northwest Film Forum was awarded a grant from the King County Door Open legislation and 4Culture for over $471,676 over the next 3 years.

Nearly one year ago, the King County Council unanimously passed Doors Open legislation to increase funding for King County arts, heritage, science, and historic preservation nonprofits through a 0.1 percent sales tax.  Doors Open is expected to generate roughly $700 million over the next seven years.

“I am so excited for the Forum to be able to expand and deepen our impact in the communities we serve!  This support from King County and 4Culture is transformational in helping us continue to chart a sustainable future for Northwest Film Forum, ” said Executive Director, Derek Edamura.  “On behalf of our staff, our board, and our community, I want to thank the Council members for enacting this landmark legislation, as well as the staff at 4Culture and Inspire Washington for all the work they’re doing to make our region a nation-wide leader in the arts.”

The announcement of Doors Open concludes a transformative year of accomplishments for Northwest Film Forum as we continue to be a community hub for a thriving creative economy.  We are honored to be receiving this grant and thank King County, our elected officials, and 4Culture for their work in passing this legislation.
