Soon after the release of his newest smash hit I WANT YOUR SEX, Northwest Film Forum is excited to present two films by the great and dearly beloved Gregg Araki: MYSTERIOUS SKIN (newly restored!!) and his long-unavailable debut feature THREE BEWILDERED PEOPLE IN THE NIGHT! Youthful angst and turmoil are abound in both films, taking hard looks at what it takes to find and maintain love in our fucked up modern world, however that might look like. Between these two films and his newest film, you’ll get a wide survey of where Araki has come from and where he might be going next, though that’s always hard to predict 😉
About Mysterious Skin:
At the age of eight, Kansas youngsters Neil and Brian played on the same little league baseball team. Now, ten years later, the two boys couldn’t be more different. Neil is a charismatic but emotionally aloof male hustler, while Brian is a nervous introvert obsessed with the idea that he has been abducted by a UFO. When the boys’ parallel lives inevitably intersect, the pair unearth dark, repressed secrets on a harrowing and unforgettable journey of self-discovery.
About Three Bewildered People in The Night:
Long unseen and hard to find, Gregg Araki’s debut feature film Three Bewildered People In The Night is a stunning example of low/no budget DIY filmmaking at its best. Following a messy and tumultuous love triangle held together by a gay performance artist, his friend, and her boyfriend, Araki (in an early but unmistakably Arakian way) begs the question of where one might find love in the modern world, if that’s even possible.

Ticketing, concessions, cinemas, restrooms, and our public edit lab are located on Northwest Film Forum’s ground floor, which is wheelchair accessible. All doors in Northwest Film Forum are non-motorized, and may require staff assistance to open. Our upstairs workshop room is not wheelchair accessible.
We have a limited number of assistive listening devices available for programs hosted in our larger theater, Cinema 1. These devices are maintained by the Technical Director, and can be requested at the ticketing and concessions counter. Also available at the front desk is a Sensory Kit you can borrow, which includes a Communication Card, noise-reducing headphones, and fidget toys.
The Forum does NOT have assistive devices for the visually impaired, and is not (yet) a scent-free venue. Our commitment to increasing access for our audiences is ongoing, and we welcome all public input on the subject!

NWFF patrons will be strongly encouraged to wear masks that cover both nose and mouth while in the building. Disposable masks are available at the door for those who need them. Recent variants of COVID-19 readily infect and spread between individuals regardless of vaccination status.
