Sense of Place: Solutions to Save Showbox & Cultural Space
About
Just one day after Showbox celebrated its 79th birthday came a tragic announcement that stunned Seattle showgoers: plans had been filed to sell and demolish the historic music venue. Northwest Film Forum’s second installment of its community storytelling series, Sense of Place: Solutions to Save Showbox & Cultural Space, focuses on ways to preserve cultural space within a city that is quickly transforming.
The evening combines storytelling, case studies, films, and live testimonials to bring together Seattle’s artistic community, lawmakers, bloggers — and anyone who sees the benefits of a thriving art community — to create dialogue, form action steps, and incite action.
It is modeled after Sense of Place: Stories from a Changing City, a successful April 2018 installment focused on homelessness and displacement.
