About

Created in partnership by Reel Grrls and Northwest Film Forum.

This workshop will cover camera setup, operation, and DSLR functions. You’ll learn about the artistic advantages of DSLR cameras, and what types of shoots would require a different camera. Students will learn how to choose a lens, manually control exposure to create a desired look, understand standard framing for shots, tripod use, and techniques for hand held shooting. Leave with a workflow to help you get consistently beautiful footage from your shoots.

Equipment: NWFF Canon cameras and lenses are are provided for use during the workshop. The concepts will apply to most any camera. If you have your own camera, we encourage you to bring it to practice with!

Minimum age to attend is 17, there is no maximum age. This is part of a series of production intensives being offered this fall for emerging filmmakers. Those age 17-26 who complete all the workshops will be eligible to join RGPro, a production company that produces broadcast-quality media for nonprofit organizations, local businesses, and institutions.
