About

Experience Level: All

The Indie Filmmaker’s Guide to Captions & Subtitles is part education, part advocation for adding captions and subtitles to indie film projects. Broaden your audience and make your films more accessible for free or at remarkably less cost than you’d imagine. Remember, your film isn’t finished until it’s captioned.

In this 90 minute workshop, you’ll learn:

• The difference between “open” and “closed” captions and subtitles.
• How to expand your audience to the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities with captions.
• Creating foreign language subtitles for broader distribution.
• How to meet the requirements of distributors and many festivals, many of which now require captions or subtitles for films of all lengths.
• Why captions can allow your film to be found by your target audience through SEO.
