Calling all filmmakers and writers! Are you a filmmaker wanting to write your own scripts?Are you a writer who would like to create a story to make into a film? Have you ever tried to write a story and just got stuck? Have you ever sat down and laughed one day and said that would be crazy if that happened? If so, this workshop is for you!
During this workshop you will learn:
- Techniques for writing a fiction or nonfiction story.
- How to have fun while you’re writing.
- How to structure a story to make it fun and exciting for your audience.
- Ways to brainstorm a story idea and draw on your own experiences.

Stephanie Lassiter, Executive Director of Art of Me, will facilitate activities to help young writers create a fun story. Art of Me promotes human rights, healthy relationships and community connection for young people through an interdisciplinary curricula that enables them to tell their unique stories and perspectives through writing, film and art.

Stephanie Wahome-Lassiter, born and raised in Cleveland Ohio always had a passion to be a catalyst for positive change.
After graduating from Miami University she lead AmeriCorps teams while working for City Year Detroit and City Year Seattle. Upon graduating with her Executive Masters in Nonprofit Leadership from Seattle University she became one of the founding staffers of E.L. Haynes Elementary School in Washington D.C., while earning a Masters in Teaching from American University.
After serving the youth in other cities in education and arts she returned home to Cleveland, Ohio to lead the Cleveland office of the national non-profit Scenarios USA. During her 9 years with Scenarios USA she trained teachers, wrote curricula, produced youth written films shown on The Showtime Channel and finished her service as the Regional Director of Education and Programs in 2017.
She then founded Art of Me to work with young people to identify what their life’s canvas is, who they are in their community and how they can use storytelling to inspire the hearts of the world. Stephanie is also the co-founder and Executive Director of All About Your Health. A 100% volunteer based organization that has connected over 11,000 youth, families and volunteers to over 200 programs, services and organizations in Northeast, Ohio since 2011.
