About

Become acquainted with popular Arri and LED lights, as well as how common lighting kit components can shape mood and improve the quality of your film. Get hands-on experience with the equipment and practice new techniques. No experience required. Recommended for students interested in renting lighting equipment from NWFF!

David Quantic also teaches the 8-week narrative filmmaking workshop for NWFF. While that workshop also covers introductory lighting, this one is perfect for those who need to ramp up skills for an upcoming project, or want to explore lighting techniques in a shorter format.
David: “As a teaching assistant and graduate of UCLA’s MFA Directing program, I’ve had a world-class film education and I love passing that knowledge on to my own students!  When I’m not teaching, I’m a freelance videographer and editor, working on local and remote jobs alike. Recent gigs include shooting and editing a Kickstarter fundraising video for a local writer, editing a clip reel for a film festival’s 30th Anniversary as well as self-producing a documentary short about one of the worst movies ever made, SHOWGIRLS.”
