About
The 5th Cascadia Poetry Festival will be held May 9-12 in Anacortes, WA
Cadence is teaming up with Cascadia Poetry Festival in Anacortes, WA to present a curated selection of video poems by featured artists!
This is a special iteration of the Fest as a tribute to the late Sam Hamill, who co-founded Copper Canyon Press. Sam was a friend of the Seattle Poetics Lab (SPLAB) and a reader at past Cascadia festivals. There will be a tribute reading for Sam, and a launch of Samthology, an anthology of poems for Sam.
We’ll also be launching another SPLAB anthology, Make It True meets Medusario, a bilingual anthology that was spawned by two previous anthologies and combined into one to initiate a dialog between Spanish language poets of the neo-barroco school and poets from the Cascadia bioregion. Neo-barroco poet José Kozer will be reading along with other anthology contributors.
There will be panels on Cascadian iterations of Zen practice and on literary translations as politcal acts. As well, there will be workshops on Writing in the Woods and Becoming Cascadian (both free with Gold Pass), and a Master Class with poet Steve Kuusisto.
Gold Passes are only $25, which gets you into all events, with the exception of the Kuusisto workshop.
