Was WALL·E actually released in IMAX, with an aspect ratio of 1.90:1?

No, WALL·E is Scope (2.39:1), not Full Container (1.90:1). Its intended presentation format is much wider than it is tall when compared to films like Apollo 11 and Blade Runner 2049, which are formatted to fill the entire PACCAR IMAX Theater screen from floor to ceiling. (More info on aspect ratios and films released in IMAX can be found here.) While WALL·E will not be floor to ceiling, it will still be GIGANTIC and look FABULOUS!

About

(Andrew Stanton, US, 2008, 98 min, in English)

Join Northwest Film Forum for a dazzling opening night event at our 19th Children’s Film Festival Seattle! Come watch the beloved, Criterion-certified classic WALL-E … on a larger than life screen. With a love story this grand, and animation this awe-inspiring, we’re over the moon that we get to open our festival at Pacific Science Center, at the state-of-the-art PACCAR IMAX Theater!

WALL-E, a robot purpose-built for the humble task of compacting all the garbage on Earth, has been hard at work for centuries. Mankind skipped town and left him with their mess long ago, and with only a cockroach for company, WALL-E longs for companionship. One day, he gets his wish: EVE, a mesmerizing robot unlike anything WALL-E has ever seen, descends from the heavens and turns his world upside-down.

Can the connection between this curious pair bring a spark of life back to a world devastated by environmental exploitation? Mark your calendars for February 2nd to find out!

* Present your CFFS ticket/pass receipt at the PacSci for 50% off general admission, from February 2-16! Pacific Science Center members receive the NWFF member ticket rate throughout the festival!*

All ticket purchasers are entered to win this adorable WALL·E painting by Crís!

Our eminently talented Cinema Programmer Crís Vázquez de Mercado has done it again! Join us on opening night for your chance to win this cute panel. Sealed with an iridescent medium and decorated with glow-in-the-dark stars, this luminous WALL·E portrait is ready to be your steadfast companion.

Dimensions: 39.5″ square

(If this is too big for your home, or you don’t have a way to get it back with you after the screening, don’t worry! You’re welcome to pass the love on to whichever young WALL·E fan looks at it with the most earnest, yearning expression, or we can take it back to the Forum ’til you’re ready to pick it up.)
