This show is a music video screening and live concert, featuring music from DoNormaal’s upcoming album, Yippee.

Director Vida Rose uses sci fi as a tool for social, environmental and ancestral healing. Her multidisciplinary work is deceptively simple, using sweetness and fun to prod the audience to own their imaginations. DoNormaal’s rapping tells stories of intergenerational tension, ancestral wounds and matriarchal glory. Their first collaboration resulted in a color-saturated, smooth-flowing story that might shift perceptions of the downtown library.

Of her new album, DoNormaal says, “…in this world, just like little Simba, I’d do well to laugh in the face of danger. Not because it’s funny, but because I’m strong when I’m having fun.”
