Local Sightings 2016 – Closing Night: Filmmaker Cake Roulette + Awards Ceremony

$12 General Admission
$9 Student/Senior
$7 Member

This year the closing night of Local Sightings is a cake roulette for all the filmmakers in the festival.

You may be asking, wait, what's a cake roulette?

A cake roulette is a social shindig, a dance party, and a chance to eat delicious cake with friends and strangers. It’s like musical chairs, but better – there are no losers in a cake roulette!

Why's a cake roulette in a film festival?

As a thanks to the filmmakers for making and sharing their work, and as a sweet note to end on for all festival attendees.

How does cake roulette work?

Participants line up, and 10 people enter the cake roulette at a time. As music plays, participants walk/dance around the circle. When the music stops, everyone stops on the nearest symbol. The Cake Roulette MC selects a symbol randomly, and whomever is standing on that symbol wins a cake! It really is that easy! Winners can choose any cake they like, and those who don’t win on their first roulette are welcome to play again until all the cakes have been given away. Participants are encouraged to share their cake, try other people’s cakes, cheer on everyone else as they walk their way to victory (and cake).

Want to help make this sweet magic happen by making a cake for a filmmaker?

We are looking for cakes of all kinds, including vegan and gluten free cakes. If you or a friend would like to make one, email courtney@nwfilmforum.org to find out more! If you need help with recipe ideas or basic ingredients, do not hesitate to ask. As a thanks for your contribution, we can offer you 2 free tickets to any Film Forum screening, free popcorn, and of course, admittance to what promises to be the best Cake Roulette of the century on Oct 1st!

When is the Cakewalk and how do I attend?

The Local Sightings Cake Roulette is at 8pm on Oct 1 at Northwest Film Forum. The event is open to all – the game is reserved for filmmakers in this year’s fest, but there will be enough cake for everyone. Tickets here!
