These wacky, adventurous, musical, and sometimes hard-hitting films are youth-made creations that invite us into the worlds of young filmmakers in Seattle and beyond. This not-to-be-missed showcase was curated entirely by a panel of youth film lovers: Beezus Murphy, Milo Bradley, and Africa Testa.

You Reap What You Sow

(Jacob Updyke, USA, animation, 2019, 2:19 min, English)

When 5-year old Thomas is evacuating the city with his mother, he has some questions about why they have to go. Told entirely through animation, the film is a warning and call to action about the state of our climate.

I Love Everything

José is 8 and takes us on a guided tour of Nutashkuan, showing us all that he loves.

Double Vida

Two countries, one teen and her journey discovering that “home” doesn’t need to be a place.

In a small village near Kutina, Martin uses a pair of glasses from outer space to do well on his tests and examinations at school.

Life of a Plastic Cup

Focusing on the global problem of how plastic is destroying our wildlife and polluting our seas, a plastic cup is personified and goes on its own adventure.

Stronger Than Steel

Three days after the Tree of Life synagogue shooting, thousands of people in Pittsburgh came together to protest the hate and violence in the country. This film explores that even after tragedy, there is hope in this divided nation.

Mr. Happ-E

This animated short film is based on a poem written by the filmmaker that aims to help children and adults cope with sadness and learn how to overcome it with their imagination.

Pulelehua

As evident as the metamorphosis of a butterfly (Pulelehua), or flowers in bloom, LOVE transforms! ‘Pulelehua’ is made in honor of Hawai’i’s Beloved Queen Liliuokalani, who was inspired by nature & encouraged her Kingdom to live Aloha.
