About

This pre-apocalyptic road movie documents the coast-to-coast journey of two washed-up skateboard buddies across a tumultuous, turbulent USA. Boerleider is a Dutch-Surinamese jokester from Amsterdam who wants nothing more than to finally see America, the country of his dreams. His old buddy Monihan, raised in Seattle’s Central District but living in Brooklyn, is much more cynical about his homeland.

As serendipity would have it, Monihan’s mother has just gifted him her old car, provided that he’s willing to pick it up in California. Monihan calls his friend to let him know the good news, and they drive East together, set on making Boerleider’s dream road trip a reality. Hitch a ride on a deadpan counter-narrative to the current disheveled state of all things red, white, and blue, with a pair of consummate outsiders who disagree on almost everything, but are best friends nevertheless.

… an engagingly wobbly back and forth rhythm … amiable sh*t-talking quickly piles high, along with discussions involving the toxic nature of hotel room comforters, the potentially world-uniting power of Old Navy, and the nutritional value of alien meat.” – Andrew Wright, The Stranger
