SEATTLE, WA (March 8, 2025) — Northwest Film Forum has started 2025 with soaring ticket sales and guests rediscovering their love of the cinema experience.  

“This has been the best fiscal quarter that we have had in over 2 years!” says Derek Edamura, Executive Director of Northwest Film Forum.

Since the start of the new year Northwest Film Forum has seen a dramatic increase in ticket sales and attendance following the runs of Sundance Shorts Tour, Sundance Indigenous Shorts Tour, Sing Sing, Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story, and the academy award winning film No Other Land.  During this period, attendance has soared by 88% and ticket sales have increased by 108%.  Membership has also increased by nearly 40% since November, 2024.

“This increased community engagement is representative of the intentional focus that we have all put into developing programming that we believe our community wants to participate in,” says Derek.

Northwest Film Forum is also seeing incredible participation across the board from its new Filmmaking Masterclass series that has allowed local artists to learn from some of the most incredible filmmakers in the region including; Megan Griffiths, Tim Sexton, Jennifer Roth and Erica Tremblay.  The Forum has also begun piloting a new youth filmmaking series focused on giving young filmmakers hands-on experience and mentorship through the filmmaking process.  Northwest Film Forum is also reimagining its Children’s Film Festival Seattle to focus on youth leadership and social justice, and will be an opportunity for young people to empower themselves with the tools necessary to enact social change in their community.
