About

After his father dies, Masato, a young chef, leaves his family’s ramen shop in Japan in search of his mother’s family and the recipes she left behind in Singapore. He traces a culinary path of delicious signature dishes, and with the help of food blogger Miki (Japanese pop star Seiko Matsuda), he learns the recipes of his mother’s homeland and the way to his grandmother’s heart.

“More comfort food than haute cuisine.” – Maggie Lee, Variety

“From start to finish, Ramen Teh is a joy, and while it caters to some bittersweet sentimentality, there is also a resounding hopefulness which lingers.” – Tynan Yanaga, Film Inquiry

“It is saved by its underlying theme of forgiveness and reconciliation between long-estranged family members, for whom the cruel memory of the Japanese invasion and occupation of Singapore during World War 2 is still alive.” – Deborah Young, Hollywood Reporter
