Residency Structure & Duration

• Duration: Artists can apply for a residency lasting between 1-3 months.
• Available Spaces: Artists will be provided with a dedicated office space at NWFF, access to production equipment, editing suites, and other facilities.
• Program Benefits:
  • Space: An office to work, develop ideas, and hold meetings.
  • Resources: Full access to NWFF’s equipment, including cameras, sound gear, and editing stations.
  • Technical Assistance: Support from NWFF staff to assist with technical needs throughout the residency.
  • Venue Rental: One-time use of a NWFF venue for a screening, performance, or exhibition related to the artist’s work at no cost.

Artist Selection Process

• Call for Applications: NWFF will issue an open call for artists working in film and interdisciplinary media to apply.
• Selection Criteria: The selection process will prioritize work that aligns with NWFF’s mission of promoting innovative, experimental, and community-focused projects. Artists with a track record of engagement and collaboration are highly encouraged to apply.
• Jury Process: A selection committee consisting of NWFF staff and outside professionals will review applications and select the artist(s) for each cycle.

Community Engagement & Public Programming

• Public Workshops/Screenings: Artists will be asked to engage with the community through public events such as screenings, artist talks, workshops, or exhibitions. These events will create opportunities for local audiences to interact with the artists and learn about their process.
• Open Studio Sessions: At the end of each residency, artists can host an open studio or presentation to showcase their progress and connect with the community.

Timeline & Application Cycle

• Call for Applications: Open applications four times a year for the upcoming residency cycle.
• Residency Period: Residencies will be offered quarterly or bi-annually, based on the number of applications and available space.
• Final Presentation: At the end of each residency, artists will be expected to present their work to the public through a final event, such as a screening or exhibition.

Funding & Stipends

• In-Kind Support: The residency provides space, equipment, technical assistance, and a one-time venue rental on the house. Artists are not provided with a stipend but will have access to valuable resources that support their work during the residency period.

Evaluation & Success Metrics

• Artist Feedback: Collect feedback from the artists to evaluate the effectiveness of the residency and their overall experience.
• Community Impact: Track attendance at public events and gauge community engagement with the artists’ work.
• Long-Term Outcomes: Monitor the career development of artists post-residency and their continued engagement with NWFF and the local arts community.
