About

This mind-exploding Cronenberg film blends horror with science-fiction (as he does best!) to present a world where telepathic “scanners” are being recruited or hunted down because of their abilities. In a role that has you rooting for the bad guy, Michael Ironside plays Darryl Revok, a rogue scanner with incredibly strong powers that is trying to wage war against the corporation ConSec. Meanwhile, Cameron Vale (Stephen Lack) is recruited to stop Revok but ultimately uncovers more sinister plots at play.

Centering around the human body as a system that can be hacked, Scanners frontloads paranoia, drawing comparisons of technology to our neural networks while maintaining that there is no one that you can trust.

PARANOID DATA (December 7 & 8)

Paranoid Data is a weekend-long offering of cult classics and FIVE rarely seen films that offer a small window into the ways in which technology, data, and the human body were thought to be affected and influenced by each other. Full program offerings and schedule below.
