Leadership Changes at Northwest Film Forum, October 2025
SEATTLE, WA (October 28, 2025) —
Hello Forum friends,
We’re writing to share a few important leadership updates. Executive Director Derek Edamura is stepping down from his role after nearly three years of dedicated service. Derek’s leadership has been instrumental in helping the Forum navigate the challenges that arts organizations across the country have faced in the wake of the pandemic. By restructuring the Forum’s staffing model and expanding its revenue streams, he has strengthened the organization’s foundation and created a more sustainable future.
We’re immensely grateful for Derek’s steady guidance and pleased to share that he will remain connected to the Forum to aid in the transition of programs.
Associate Director Jill Busby has stepped up to serve NWFF as our Interim Executive Director. Jill brings experience across the Forum’s administration and programs, along with expertise in organizational structure and a collaborative approach that will help maintain momentum and ensure a smooth transition across all areas of the organization. We will share updates on the plan for a permanent Executive Director as that process moves forward. In the meantime, we remain focused on supporting artists, expanding educational opportunities, and sustaining the inclusive creative community that defines the Forum.
Most importantly, the majority of programs and services will continue as scheduled and without interruption, and we will communicate about any exceptions with those impacted. Screenings, rentals, fiscal sponsorships, and partnerships remain active and on track.
We also are pleased to share that we have a new slate of officers on our Board. Acclaimed independent filmmaker and longtime Board member Megan Griffiths is now serving as Board President, joined by Angela Moorer (Vice President), Mujale Chisebuka (Secretary), and Matthew Dresden (Treasurer). The organization extends heartfelt thanks to Becky Bruhn, whose thoughtful leadership over the past two years as Board President helped guide the Forum through a time of change and renewal. Building on that foundation, our new officers bring a deep commitment and expertise that will continue to strengthen the Forum’s artistic and community impact.

With gratitude,
Megan Griffiths, Board President
