EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Beginner
This entry-level workshop will take place over one weekend and introduce you to the fundamentals of film/video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. This is a combo lecture/hands on workshop, where you learn concepts and then apply them directly in Premiere. By the end of the course, you will have foundational experience in all aspects of the editing process, from organizing and importing to finishing with color and exporting. Learn from local industry professionals, and build meaningful artistic and community connections while you learn this essential editing software. Students also get free access to the NWFF edit lab through April 5th.
What you can expect to learn:
- How to edit a one minute short montage film, including b-roll, music and dialogue from start to finish using media provided
- Overview of the interface, tools, and editing modes
- Program setup, how to import media, and project organization
- Overwrite, insert editing, and trimming
- Layering music with off screen dialogue audio
- Adding titles and transitions
- Basic color adjustments and corrections
- Exporting a final video
What experience is needed:
- You should have familiarity operating either a Mac or PC computer, but experience with Adobe or in editing video is not required.
- Former experience in editing film, photography, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, or phone based editing can be applied to learning this software.
- For those with some Adobe experience, or who are self taught, this workshop will give you insight into functions and techniques you may have missed, the opportunity to ask questions as you work, and up to date information about the latest version of the software.
Note: Software, and editing stations are provided. Our lab has 4 iMac stations, two PC stations. Please indicate your preference during registration. Students also receive free access to the NWFF Edit Lab during the workshop dates, and one week after the last session.
