Northwest Film Forum and Reel Grrls have teamed up to bring you this one day camp will focus on exploring media literacy and masculinity through a feminist lens. Current film and media often perpetuate negative stereotypes of masculinity which devalue emotions, connection, and women, and which portray violence as the norm. This camp will provide a space for cis or trans boys to explore and define what healthy masculinity is for them. Youth will learn how to deconstruct popular media including film trailers and music videos. Using professional cameras and editing software, they will learn how to create an engaging deconstruction video with original footage and clips from popular media, for sharing on youtube and other platforms. Learn and create in a fun environment at the independent cinema of Northwest Film Forum. See what you create on the big screen and enjoy free popcorn!
