The Seattle Arab Film Festival returns with a powerful celebration of Arab cinema—from 1930s Palestine to present-day stories from the Arab world and the diaspora.
FILMS IN THIS PROGRAM INCLUDE:
I FOUND MY LOVE IN MASSARA
15’, Egypt, 2023
Stephanie makes a life-changing decision on Christmas Day 2021: returning to Cairo after two and a half years in Paris to direct her debut short. Lost between two countries and two careers, she decided to delve into the remnants of Cinema Massara. This film is a light story interlacing the past, family archives, immigration, and youthful hope.
3350 KM
13’, France, 2023
In exile, 7 years away from my father and my homeland, I record our phone conversations. He tells me about the country, his loneliness. My screen unites and separates us, my only window. My memories fade, my life severed, my country inaccessible.
LET US PLAY YESTERDAY
20’, Egypt, 2023
Timid Sara who is 14 must confront her missionary school’s strictest nun in order to readjust her performance dress and flatter her tiny, underdeveloped body before the annual Mother’s Day party. A mission deemed foolishly courageous ends in an act of self-acceptance
MY SO-CALLED IRAQI WEDDING
13’, USA, 2024
Iraqi-American SAMIRA “SAMI” RAMSEY learned to be an incurable romantic thanks to her rom-com loving, mystical aunt. Now, nearly 40, Sami has finally met ADAM, her person. But never mind love, how big is the wedding? That’s what her mother wants to know. My So-Called Iraqi-American Wedding asks the question, “How do you listen to your own heart when everything around you is so damn loud?”
BABA I AM FINE
13’, USA, 2025
When Sama’s girlfriend blows off their Friday plans, the teen copes with romantic rejection by blasting music in her room. When her dad suggests hanging out, she agrees. Their evening takes an unexpected turn as a message forces her to choose between authenticity and keeping up appearances.
DONT BE LONG LITTLE BIRD
23’, USA/Palestine, 2025
A rebellious, spirited young woman named Rima accidentally travels through time to 1930s Palestine, where she spends a few days with a similarly spirited young woman…her great-grandmother when she was her age. Rima desperately looks for a way home, aka the present, the place she originally desired to escape from. Stuck in Palestine for a few days, she learns the ways of her ancestral past through the eyes of her great-grandmother.

Ticketing, concessions, cinemas, restrooms, and our public edit lab are located on Northwest Film Forum’s ground floor, which is wheelchair accessible. All doors in Northwest Film Forum are non-motorized, and may require staff assistance to open. Our upstairs workshop room is not wheelchair accessible.
The majority of seats in our main cinema are 21″ wide from armrest to armrest; some seats are 19″ wide. We are working on creating the option of removable armrests!
We have a limited number of assistive listening devices available for programs hosted in our larger theater, Cinema 1. These devices are maintained by the Technical Director, and can be requested at the ticketing and concessions counter. Also available at the front desk is a Sensory Kit you can borrow, which includes a Communication Card, noise-reducing headphones, and fidget toys.
The Forum does NOT have assistive devices for the visually impaired, and is not (yet) a scent-free venue. Our commitment to increasing access for our audiences is ongoing, and we welcome all public input on the subject!
If you have additional specific questions about accessibility at our venue, please contact our Patron Services Manager at suji@nwfilmforum.org. Our phone number (206-329-2629) is voicemail-only, but we check it often.
Made possible due to a grant from Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, in partnership with Sensory Access, our Sensory Access document presents a visual and descriptive walk-through of the NWFF space. View it in advance of attending an in-person event at bit.ly/nwffsocialnarrativepdf, in order to prepare yourself for the experience.
NWFF patrons will be strongly encouraged to wear masks that cover both nose and mouth while in the building. Disposable masks are available at the door for those who need them. Recent variants of COVID-19 readily infect and spread between individuals regardless of vaccination status.
Read more about NWFF’s policies regarding cleaning, masks, and capacity limitations here.
