About

** Co-presented with North Bend Film Festival! **

Amulet explores the story of Tomaz, an ex soldier from an unnamed foreign conflict, living in strained circumstances in London. Haunted by his past, he is offered a place to stay in a decaying, claustrophobic house, inhabited by an enigmatic young woman and her dying mother. As he starts to fall for his new companion, Tomaz cannot ignore his suspicion that something insidious might also be living alongside them.

Amulet is more than the sum of its visual frights. Garai sets you up to expect one kind of movie, but she’s made something else entirely…” – Justin Chang, NPR

“It’s an evocative, confident debut, recalling the metaphorical horror of Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook or Babak Anvari’s Under The Shadow, even as it announces the arrival of a singular new voice.” – Toussaint Egan, AV Club

Amulet is an unnervingly satisfying film that conjoins artful Rosemary’s Baby-adjacent dread and Evil Dead-style ghoulishness with surprising aplomb.” – Josh Goller, Spectrum Culture
“The movie casts a grim sort of spell; a brooding, stifled dread that creeps in quietly from the margins, and lingers long after the last triumphant frame.” – Leah Greenblatt, Entertainment Weekly
