This timely documentary provides a framework for understanding the systems of social control in Portland, its history of exclusion laws, racial profiling, gentrification practices and policing along lines of race and class. Examining the role of police brutality in our current society as well as the history of violent police practice, Arresting Power interviews the families of those who have been killed by the Portland police force, victims of police harassment, local activists, historians, and community organizers in order to discover the origin of this violence and the systems of social control that hold sway over our country.
